Tesco Stow-On-The-Wold

Gordian delivers a façade solution for the Tesco Superstore in Stow-on-the-Wold, combining Eurobond Rainspan and Rockpanel Woods to create a durable external envelope with a natural timber appearance.

Set within a rural location, the project required a finish that felt familiar to its surroundings while meeting the technical demands of a busy retail environment. Eurobond Rainspan was used to form the primary envelope, providing fire performance, thermal efficiency and early weathertightness, with Rockpanel Woods applied as the external finish to achieve the desired timber aesthetic. The façade was designed using a horizontal lapped arrangement to recreate the appearance of traditional timber cladding while maintaining the durability and low maintenance benefits of a modern rainscreen.

Gordian fabricated the Rockpanel elements in-house, with panels pre-cut and fixing holes routed prior to delivery to site. This reduced on-site processing and supported a smooth installation programme within a constrained and busy working environment.
