Fire Barriers
Fire barriers are an essential part of any building project and are required as part of the ADBV2 (Approved Document B Volume 2: Buildings other than Dwellings) building regulations which set out requirements for fire safety, particularly the need to be able to isolate a fire to prevent the blaze from spreading.
At Gordian Building Solutions, we understand the importance of maintaining the highest level of building fire safety, which is why we only partner with the leading manufacturers of fire barriers including Siderise and Corofil. They provide a comprehensive range of solutions that can be tailored to the specific needs of your project.
We can provide advice about materials planning throughout the process of consrtuction and give insight into the most suitable products for your project.
Fire barriers offer excellent resistance to the passage of both smoke and fire and work by sealing off the gaps in a wall and floor cavity. This prevents any cavities in the building behaving like a chimney that might otherwise allow the spread of fire and smoke, as well as allowing air to get to a fire. Barriers are generally fitted horizontally at each floor level and vertically at each party wall. This arrangement blocks airflow and ultimately prevents the spread of flames and smoke in the event of a fire.
This increases the safety of the building and protects occupants, giving valuable time to escape in the event of an emergency.
The systems available from Gordial Building Solutions are designed and manufactured to the highest possible standards to ensure that they meet all requirements and provide maximum protection for the building and its occupants in the event of a fire.
Gordian Building Solutions supplies cavity barriers in both standard and bespoke lengths and widths. Our team can also work with you to advise on the most suitable void sizes and barrier types to suit your project and ensure that your commercial and/or residential developments meet the latest British, European building and fire safety regulations. We can work closely with your team including architects and specifiers to provide advice and guidance about the correct system for your needs.
